The Sea and other Happy Pills

There are a few things that can switch my mood from sulky to happy, a.k.a the things I like. One would be the morning sun and how it warms both my heart and my skin. I love how it gives me the feeling of a new beginning. A clean slate. It's Lamentations 3:22-23 presented artistically right in front of my eyes, and oh man, I won't have it any other way. A genuine conversation can do the trick, too. I mean, I know if it's just one of those canned interchanges of predictable questions and shallow answers. While this is convenient and can save us from awkward situations, the truth is, a real and strong human connection doesn't grow out of mere small talk. Right? It has to move a little deeper than that. Those who care enough to stay, listen, and offer a certain level of vulnerability get the real deal. And it makes me happy every time I get one.
